I can’t paint
One day I went to lunch with my very fun and very fabulous friend Christine who shared her beautiful paintings with me. When I asked what she was going to do with them she said “Hang out at Art Festivals!”
The next morning I woke up wondering: could I hang out too? I LOVE Art Festivals. But I can’t paint. I certainly can’t water color. Ceramics? Forget it. I can kinda draw, but just kinda. What could I do? And then I it came to me.
I can cut.
I love to wrap presents. I love to wallpaper. I love to sew. I love to piece colors together and change a wall, create a pillow, make a six-year-old her very first sequin dress.
Could I create art from paper? From fabric?
I didn’t even know what it was called. I looked up “decoupage” on YouTube, watched a few videos, got out of bed and headed to Michaels. I bought tissue paper and Mod Podge.
And that was the beginning of this wonderful journey.
Since then I have entered pieces in two competitions and been accepted and awarded ( ! ) both times. I’ve created an Instagram account and watched it grow with followers ( ! ) I don’t know. The validation is so rewarding.
Thanks for checking out my site. Thanks for taking a look at my work. Lots of Thanks.
